This all-new roadster aluminum luggage collection is available in three sizes and two colorways. 

Presented in three sizes: small carry-on, medium, and large, the collection will be available in either silver or black. In a first for Porsche Design hardcase luggage, these pieces are made from aluminum.  

Since it was first introduced in 2015, Porsche Design’s Roadster Hardcase luggage has established itself as a key player in a hotly contested market. This latest iteration continues the innovation by taking its cues from the Porsche 911 Targa, utilizing elements of the car in its design and construction. 

The historic 911 Targa charts its lineage back to September 1965, where it was first unveiled at Frankfurt’s International Motor Show. It would go on to play an important part in the history of convertibles by using a safety rollbar constructed from brushed aluminum.

This notion of protection through aluminum is once again brought to life, this time in the form of luggage as the new Porsche Design Roadster Aluminum collection.

The cases use a stabilized frame, inspired by the process used to manufacture the 911 Targa’s body, using front and back panels that are stamped before being attached to the frame. This method gives the product an impressively clean finish while avoiding any visible rivets or potential weak spots at corner joints. 

The case‘s aluminum exterior is adorned with horizontal lines that not only draw the eye, but also hark back to the aerodynamic features of the 911. 

While performance may be the metric that defines sports cars, in luggage, a great product earns its stripes through security and protection. The aluminum exterior of this new collection hits the mark on both counts, while over time it will develop a patina and character of its own. 

Looking at some of the details of the new Porsche Design Roadster Aluminum luggage collection, high-quality leather with both visible stitching and padding has been used for the handle system. The case includes a flat TSA lock that fits the minimalist design with ease. When the case arrives, expect the code to be preset to 911.

The mounted ball-bearing double wheels roll with an otherworldly level of smoothness, and feature 360-degree rotation for ease of use. 

On the inside, the lined interior is decorated with a hexagon print. There is an expansive main compartment separated off by a zipped divider with a slip pocket. The other side is kept open and features cross straps.  

The Roadster Aluminum Luggage in silver will be available from May 2025 at shop.porsche.com and Porsche Design Stores worldwide. While travelers looking to acquire a case in black will have to wait until July.
