{"id":4752,"date":"2026-07-25T05:01:00","date_gmt":"2026-07-25T05:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/facesjournal.com\/?p=4752"},"modified":"2026-07-25T05:01:00","modified_gmt":"2026-07-25T05:01:00","slug":"the-british-label-behind-summers-cult-dresses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/facesjournal.com\/?p=4752","title":{"rendered":"The British Label Behind Summer\u2019s Cult Dresses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wiggy Kit is the British fashion label behind the cult summer dresses spotted everywhere from the Bahamas to Belgravia.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"204\" src=\"https:\/\/elitetraveler.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2026\/07\/wiggy-hindmarch-lucia-dress-300x204.jpg\" class=\"attachment-medium size-medium wp-post-image\" alt=\"Wiggy Hindmarch\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><\/div>\n<p>I am talking about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wiggykit.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Wiggy Kit<\/a>, a small British operation, founded in 2015 by Wiggy Hindmarch, who divides her time between her homes in <a href=\"https:\/\/elitetraveler.com\/travel\/destination-guides\/europe\/london-destination-guide\">London<\/a> and the Bahamas, plus, increasingly, her travels across the US hosting trunk shows.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Her growing American fanbase, which now accounts for 30 percent of her business, is everywhere from <a href=\"https:\/\/elitetraveler.com\/travel\/destination-guides\/north-america\/new-york-destination-guide\">New York <\/a>to <a href=\"https:\/\/elitetraveler.com\/travel\/destination-guides\/north-america\/los-angeles\">Los Angeles<\/a>, by way of countless stop-offs in wealthy enclaves in between, from Charleston to Dallas.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/elitetraveler.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2026\/07\/wiggy-hindmarch-mini-dress-1707x2560.jpg\" alt=\"Wiggy Hindmarch\" class=\"wp-image-266381\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">\u00a9Wiggy Kit<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>What\u2019s the appeal? Beautifully considered clothes designed by a woman who knows how to look chic in the sun, with an aesthetic that combines flattering femininity with the kind of pared back lines that look \u2013\u00a0and feel \u2013\u00a0cool. Wearing it feels a bit more clever, a bit more thought out, as if you have discovered something.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/elitetraveler.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2026\/07\/wiggy-hindmarch-bay-dress-1707x2560.jpg\" alt=\"Wiggy Hindmarch\" class=\"wp-image-266384\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">\u00a9Wiggy Kit<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The so-called floating bib dress is a case in point, an easy-breezy riff on a tuxedo shirt, with its fresh-looking white bib, the rest rendered in red and white striped linen, the end result somehow both preppy and boho. (Hindmarch has a magic touch when it comes to mixing apparently unmixable visual languages into a new whole.) And I am building up quite the collection of its sarong dress, which is released in different fabrics each season and flatters the female form wonderfully, whatever your shape. I never go anywhere warm without at least two.<\/p>\n<p>She aims \u201cto create stand out pieces that don\u2019t shout. You don\u2019t look as if you are trying too hard, but, \u2018Bloody hell, that\u2019s an amazing shirt\u2019 or \u2018Wow, that is such an incredible skirt\u2019. I don\u2019t want ever to produce something boring. There is always a twist.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/elitetraveler.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2026\/07\/wiggy-hindmarch-jackie-dress-1706x2560.jpg\" alt=\"Wiggy Hindmarch\" class=\"wp-image-266386\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">\u00a9Wiggy Kit<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Yet she can also deliver the most full-throttle variety of look-at-me dressing. I wore the brightly floral silk Bay one-shouldered big-bowed number to this week\u2019s Dolce &amp; Gabbana\u2019s Alta Moda event in Sicily, an Italian take on couture which is the ultimate sartorial extravaganza. A couple of attendees \u2013 clad in five- and six-figure made-to-order ensembles from Dolce \u2013\u00a0asked me where it was from.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, I can speak from experience when it comes to the power of Wiggy Kit. Every time I wear something from the brand \u00a0\u2013\u00a0and I have a lot of it in my closet these days \u2013\u00a0I receive not only compliments but anxious enquiries as to where my interlocutor might secure the same for herself. Honestly, I have lost count as to the number of times I have been chased down the street by a Wiggy Kit customer-in-waiting.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/elitetraveler.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2026\/07\/wiggy-hindmarch-outfit-1707x2560.jpg\" alt=\"Wiggy Hindmarch\" class=\"wp-image-266383\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">\u00a9Wiggy Kit<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The label\u2019s price tags may barely register on the usual high-net-worth Richter scale, but this just means that Hindmarch\u2019s wealthier customers buy it differently, ordering multiples across all their addresses. \u201cOne woman orders for London, <a href=\"https:\/\/elitetraveler.com\/travel\/destination-guides\/asia-and-the-pacific\/hong-kong\">Hong Kong<\/a> and Sicily, another for New York, the Hamptons and Palm Beach,\u201d she says. A lot of her clients also purchase multiples as gifts.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey will buy for their daughter, their daughter in law, their mother, their mother-in-law. They will buy for their friends, for all their nearest and dearest. If they are invited on someone\u2019s yacht or whatever, it\u2019s a great hostess gift. It comes across as thoughtful, in that it\u2019s beach-ready, and, again, it also comes across as a bit clever, as it\u2019s a brand someone may not have heard of. My clients are very generous givers. Partly this is due to the clothes themselves, needless to say, which are cut by a female in her 50s who, soign\u00e9e as she is, knows what other females want to show and what they don\u2019t. Partly it\u2019s Hindmarch herself, who shares her gloriously on-brand life via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/wiggykit\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">@wiggykit<\/a> on Instagram.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cMy videos push sales hugely,\u201d she says. \u201cA gorgeous model doesn\u2019t do much for sales, but when people see me wearing something, they see what it looks like in real life, and they think, \u2018Oh, I get that now.\u2019 The brand is very authentic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We are chatting in her London boutique, on one of the city\u2019s best shopping streets, Elizabeth Street in Belgravia. She is currently pondering where best to open her first store in the States. As we speak, three separate first-time customers come in \u2013 two American, one Swedish \u2013 drawn by a window of typically stunning yet relaxed-looking summer dresses. They leave with a couple of frocks apiece, and a pledge to shop more online when they get home.
