Kimberley Cohen, co-founder and artistic director of Maisons Pariente, whose portfolio includes Le Grand Mazarin in Paris, has spent plenty of time in the French capital. She recommends fashion store Destree for its distinctive blend of creativity and craftsmanship: «It’s one of the most exciting contemporary French brands, combining fashion, art, and craftsmanship,» she says. She also suggests a trip to Courrèges, an iconic Parisian fashion house that continues to “reinterpret its heritage with a fresh, contemporary edge.”
For those who enjoy discovering sought-after designer items from previous seasons, Cohen suggests popping into Brand Bazar. «If you love finding exceptional pieces, Brand Bazar is a well-kept secret for discovering carefully selected designer pieces from past collections at outstanding value,» she says.

Best jewelry stores in Paris
Whether seeking costume jewelry or fine jewelry, Paris has a place for everything. Cohen suggests visiting Charlotte Chesnais for “sculptural jewellery that feels like wearable art” and Yvonne Léon for “delicate, contemporary fine jewelry with a playful Parisian sensibility”
She also recommends Goossens “for friends looking for something special. The historic Parisian maison creates extraordinary pieces inspired by haute couture craftsmanship.»
Best concept and department stores in Paris
Many of Paris’s department stores are destinations in their own right. You can easily spend hours exploring multiple floors of luxury fashion, beauty, and homeware, all housed within some of the city’s most beautiful historic buildings. Just remember to wear comfortable shoes – Parisian shopping marathons are rarely won in stilettos, as chic as they look.
For a curated shopping experience, Cohen recommends Le Bon Marché: “It’s my favorite department store for discovering both established luxury houses and emerging designers in a beautifully curated environment.” Although smaller than other department stores in the city – such as Printemps and Galeries Lafayette – it’s more selective in its choice of products.

For sheer scale, Printemps is hard to beat. Founded in 1865, the historic department store spans multiple buildings and showcases everything from designer fashion and accessories to beauty, jewelry, and homeware. Alongside international luxury brands, its striking Art Nouveau architecture is reason enough to visit.
Equally iconic is Galeries Lafayette Haussmann. Established in 1893 by cousins Théophile Bader and Alphonse Kahn, it has grown from a small haberdashery into one of the world’s best-known department stores selling luxury products of all shapes and sizes. Designer women’s and menswear is plentiful here, but the big draw has to be the beauty department, positioned directly underneath a magnificent glass-domed ceiling. Don’t forget to check out the window displays too; the artful arrangements are an excellent source of fashion inspiration.
When it comes to concept stores, Cohen rates The Broken Arm – “an inspiring store featuring a thoughtful edit of contemporary designers, alongside one of my favorite cafés in Paris.» Merci Paris is another gem; a three-story concept boutique in the Marais with a quirky collection of clothing, accessories, homeware, and gadgets, as well as a small library-cum-coffee area that’s ideal for shopping breaks.
Best vintage stores in Paris
For vintage shopping, you’re practically spoiled for choice. Bubblegum-pink store Les Archives was founded by an American – Nicolette Contursi – based in Paris, and features a selection of runway pieces and contemporary vintage attire. The Parisian Vintage is ideal if you’re after timeless, wear-for-years vintage pieces or leather must-haves, while Takk Paris is a little more playful (expect bold, colorful pieces that change week-on-week).
Meanwhile, Jinji is a “standout for its carefully curated selection, with an emphasis on quality and truly unique pieces,” says Cohen. “Super Stitch is another hidden gem, particularly if you’re searching for exceptional vintage denim and beautifully sourced jeans.»
Best homeware stores in Paris
For beautiful homeware in Paris, look for shops that reflect the city’s love for craftsmanship. “La Tuile à Loup is a treasure trove for antique tableware and authentic French art de vivre,” says Cohen. “I visit Casa Lopez for colorful textiles, ceramics, and home décor that bring warmth and personality to any interior. Sabre Paris is my favorite address for beautifully crafted cutlery that instantly elevates a table setting.»
Best food stores in Paris
It is almost impossible to visit Paris and not walk by at least one fromagerie or cheese shop; they are everywhere, and testament to the French’s great love of the stuff. But not all fromageries are equal. For a truly scrumptious cheese, head to a branch of Androuët, one of the finest ‘cheese houses’ in the capital. Androuët cheeses, selected from the best producers in France, are chosen for their superior quality and provenance, and matured by a team of passionate cheesemongers. We recommend sampling a banon, a goat’s cheese from Provence that comes wrapped in a chestnut leaf.
For a food store offering more variety in produce, make a pit stop at La Grande Épicerie, a cavernous space brimming with gourmet treats. It’s situated just across the road from Le Bon Marché, and stocks everything from confectionery, cheeses, cured meats, wines, baked items, desserts, and fresh fruit and vegetables.
